Irish Road Bowling – Strawberry Festival

Irish Road Bowling consists of a ball made of iron and steel that is heavy enough to pick up speed, yet small enough for any person to handle. Besides the basic rules and terms, all you do is hurl this 28 oz. sized "bowl" with an underhand motion over a 1 to 2 mile country road and see how far it goes! Scored like golf, the fewest number of shots from the start to the finish line wins. Irish Road Bowling is similar to fast pitch softball, except with a running start. It's also like bowling if you had enough room to run 10 or 15 yards. Irish Road Bowling is ideal for young athletes or seniors who are looking to enjoy a scenic walk on a country road, combined with an ancient and exciting, but not overly strenuous, sport! Turkey Run Road, two miles north of Buckhannon, site of the 2006 and the 2015 Irish Road Bowling North American Region Championship Finals, Bol~Chumann na hEireann. Winners advanced to the All Irelands, in Ireland (the country). May 19: 4pm-Team Bowling May 20: 1pm- Men's and Women's Singles Qualifier and Team Bowling www.wvstrawberryfestival.com

“Always, Patsy Cline” presented by the Buckhannon Community Theatre

Buckhannon Community Theatre is proud to announce its upcoming production of "Always, Patsy Cline" directed by Jason A. Young. "Always…Patsy Cline" is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. The musical play, complete with down home country humor, true emotion and even some audience participation, includes many of Patsy' unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Walking After Midnight…27 songs in all. The show's title was inspired by Cline's letters to Seger, which were consistently signed "Love ALWAYS… Patsy Cline." This show is a traveling production, with performances in Clarksburg, Fairmont, and our home location of Buckhannon, WV. If you have conflicts, please consider attending one of our other performances. You may purchase tickets on our web-site provided. NOTE: Buckhannon locations TBA. There are senior and student discounts for tickets at $10.
