Goat Gallop 5K Walk/Run

Enjoy historic Arthurdale dotted with 1930’s New Deal homes and run with the friendly goats! Visit an original homestead, pet the goats, and join us in celebrating homestead life. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. All ages welcome with parental permission. All paces welcome in the 5K, there will be an untimed 1-mile Kid’s Race that will start a few minutes after the 5K. Join us after the race for other family fun activities including playing with the goats, games for kids, and much more. Healthy snacks and refreshments to recharge your body will be provided. SportsFEST Glow Run 5K

ADMISSION:$15/$20/$25 based on registration date. The night race course starts on Capitol Street and runs along Kanawha Boulevard and back. Entry Fees: March 4 - May 1, 2017 $15.00 May 2 - July 9, 2017 $20.00 Day of race and can not guarantee t-shirt $25.00 Kids 7-12 years of age $12.00 6 and under (no T-shirt) Free

Cheat River Festival

First weekend in May, every year – Cheat Fest 2017 is May 5th and 6th, 2017. Gates open Friday night from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The festival grounds in Albright, West Virginia will once again transform into a haven for boaters, music lovers, and families. Bands from all over Appalachia will entertain crowds with live music. Held rain or shine, Cheat Fest is always a good time! There will be activities for the whole family including kids' tents and parade, delicious food, art market, 5K, downriver race, vendors, live entertainment, workshops, silent auction and raffles. Kids under twelve are free! Kids of all ages can congregate at the ever-growing Kid’s Tent from noon ’till 5:00 p.m. on Saturday for a host of hands-on activities.

Annual Blue & Gray Reunion

Weekend events commemorating the First Land Battle of the Civil War fought in Philippi, VA June 3, 1861...reenactments, skirmishes, Confederate and Union camps, crafters and food vendors, Grand Parade, horse and buggy parade, Kids' Day/Walking History, tours of historic Barbour County Courthouse, 5K race, kayak and SUP races, live entertainment, Community Choir Concert, Civil War Ball, Chili CookOff, quilt show, and ladies' tea.

YWCA Race to End Racism

Join the YWCA, local leaders and local businesses, and individuals at the inaugural Race to end Racism. The 5K run / 1 mile walk starts at Magic Island. Admission:$25 run/$15 walk thru 4/15; $30 run/$20 walk after 4/15

Race to the Chimney

Santa has a full day planned in Ripley. It begins with "Race to the Chimney," a 5K race and 1.5 mile fun walk at 10 a.m. to benefit "America's Largest Small Town Independence Day Celebration." The town's annual Christmas parade will follow at 11 a.m. After the parade, the kids may visit with Santa in the historic Alpine Theatre. Main Street Ripley will have it's annual Frosty Snowball Drop with specials from Ripley merchants. Free showings of the popular holiday comedy "Elf" are scheduled in the Alpine Theatre at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
