Snow tubing in Almost Heaven

Canaan Valley Resort
Canaan Valley Resort State Park attracts snow sport enthusiasts from around the world, and while many of those come for skiing and snowboarding, many also come for snow tubing.
The park boasts an impressive snow tubing park that features runs that are 1,200 feet long – making it the longest multi-lane snow tubing park in the Mid-Atlantic. In order to reach the top of the tubing runs, the park offers visitors a “magic carpet” that will transport them up the mountain where they will be met with jaw-dropping panoramic views of Canaan Valley.
Winterplace Ski Resort
Winterplace Ski Resort is home to the largest tubing area in West Virginia with 16 lanes and two super carpet lifts. Just off I-64 near Beckley, Winterplace is an easy drive for a day trip or weekend getaway the whole family can enjoy. The 90-acre resort boasts a vertical drop of more than 600 feet. Newbies to skiing and snowboarding are encouraged to take advantage of the resort’s new terrain-based learning area.
Snowshoe Mountain Resort
Visit the Coca-Cola Tube Park at Snowshoe Mountain Resort for eight lanes of six story-high tube runs. If you’re visit with kids, there is a smaller hill for them to enjoy. Stop by the park during the night for galactic tubing, where the runs are lit in a multi-color LED light show.
While you’re at Snowshoe, be sure to hit the ski slopes with the family or visit the village for a variety of dining and shopping options. Visit the heated Split Rock pools to swim in the winter.
