Safety on the Slopes this Season
Along the rolling hills of Almost Heaven lies a winter sports utopia. In preparation for a safe season on the slopes, learn what steps our winter destinations will be taking.
Winterplace Ski Resort
A southern West Virginia favorite, Winterplace is preparing for a busy and safe winter season. In compliance with state guidelines, Winterplace is observing face-covering requirements in all spaces where distancing cannot be maintained. With additional employee health screenings and the ability to adapt as the season progresses, Winterplace is preparing actively. Luckily, it is easy to socially distance on the slopes in Southern West Virginia!
Snowshoe Mountain
To safely welcome guests back to the mountain, Snowshoe is busy with seasonal preparations. Encouraging online reservations for equipment rentals, Snowshoe will reduce queue times and increase safety. For those hoping to avoid crowds as much as possible and ensure pass availability, try booking a mid-week trip! With many winter activities to choose from, there is something for everyone.
Canaan Valley Resort State Park
In order to get you safely to the slopes, Canaan Valley Resort State Park has many new policies in place. Top of the line sanitation is the norm at this Tucker County state park and efforts have been increased beyond this. Also, Canaan Valley’s flexible cancellation policy provides peace of mind to travelers planning in advance. Snow-lovers will be happy to know that the slopes are planned to open, with additional social distancing efforts in place.
Timberline Mountain
Winter-sports enthusiasts and nostalgic travelers alike are anxiously awaiting the reopening of Timberline Mountain. In addition to exciting updates, such as their state-of-the-art 6-passenger list, Timberline Mountain is prepared to open with safety at the forefront. With a quick adapting plan in place, increased disinfecting and face coverings are the base of all operations at Timberline Mountain. Additionally, the resort is committed to spacing passengers on their new chairlifts so everyone can make it to the top of the hill safely. With Timberline Mountain’s roll-over options for season passes, travelers can book with confidence.
White Grass Touring Center
Boasting the title of one of the “Best Cross-Country Ski Resorts,” the White Grass Touring Center is also preparing for a safety-conscious 2020-2021 season. White Grass is making plans for online reservation options for area use and other resort offers. While access to the lodge and cafe is likely to be reduced, the wide-open spaces outdoors should allow for unrestricted fun. At this unique resort, you can give snow-shoeing a try while enjoying the fresh mountain air!
