Tu-Endie-Wei State Park Home to Newest Almost Heaven Swing
Mason County celebrates its first tourism photo-op
CHARLESTON,WV –– The West Virginia Department of Tourism, in partnership with West Virginia State Parks, has announced the newest Almost Heaven swing, located at Tu-Endie-Wei State Park in Mason County. This swing sits along the confluence of the Kanawha and Ohio rivers, with the Silver Memorial Bridge in the background.
“We’re thrilled to have one of these coveted photo-op swings at this special park in Point Pleasant,” said DNR Director, Brett McMillion. “You’ll find these in places that showcase the beauty of West Virginia, which makes Tu-Endie-Wei a perfect candidate. We look forward to all of the visitors to this park who will get a chance to snap a photo and remember their trip to our great state.”
There are now 27 Almost Heaven photo-op swings available throughout the state, making it easy for travelers to capture special Mountain State memories. Visitors are encouraged to share their photos on social media using #AlmostHeaven
“Tu-Endie-Wei State Park is a beautiful place for our newest Almost Heaven swing,” said West Virginia Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby. “If you haven’t visited this great park yet, consider making a trip to experience its unique history and be sure to take your photo on the swing with the Ohio and Kanawha rivers flowing in the background while you’re there.”
Located at the confluence of the Kanawha and Ohio rivers in Point Pleasant, Tu-Endie-Wei State Park is home to an 84-foot granite monument commemorating the frontiersmen who fought and died in the 1774 Battle of Point Pleasant. The name “Tu-Endie-Wei” is a Wyandotte word meaning “point between two waters.” Tu-Endie-Wei is a historical park that is open year-round. The park’s Mansion House and facilities are open May 1 through the first weekend of October.
