West Virginia celebrates Inaugural Breeze Airways New York-Newark flight
Low-cost flights soar in popularity at West Virginia International Yeager Airport
CHARLESTON, WV –– Breeze Airways, the premium leisure low-cost carrier offering point-to-point service between underserved markets across the U.S., today launched nonstop service from Charleston, WV to New York-Newark, NJ, with fares starting from $49* one way. This marks the newest destination served by West Virginia International Yeager Airport, along with Myrtle Beach, SC, and Tampa and Orlando, FL.
“We’re excited to continue our growth from CRW today,” said Breeze Airways CEO David Neeleman. “Now with four destinations from here, we’re continuing to connect the dots between underserved city pairs, giving travelers more options to fly affordably and comfortably to over 60 destinations across 30 states on more than 200 nonstop flights.”
Breeze was recognized last month as a Four-Star Low-Cost Carrier at the 2025 Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Five-Star and Four-Star Airline Awards. The APEX Five- and Four-Star airlines represent the top 100 carriers in the world for passenger experience, with only eight percent of airlines worldwide achieving this status. Earlier this year, Breeze was ranked in the top five of Travel + Leisure’s “Best Domestic Airlines” for the third consecutive year.
“We’ve been looking forward to the start of the New York-Newark Breeze flight to West Virginia International Yeager Airport since it was announced,” West Virginia Department of Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby said. “This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Governor Justice, the Legislature, the airport and our local partners. Thanks to their continued partnership and investment in tourism infrastructure across the state, we have made great strides and opened up West Virginia to new markets of travelers.”
Coupled with an elevated experience featuring premium seating options and high-speed WiFi on its fleet of brand-new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, Breeze is defining what it means to be “Seriously Nice” in an industry that has been anything but. Breeze offers both bundled and a la carte options so travelers can customize an experience that fits their needs. Breeze’s fare bundles feature full flexibility along with other add-ons such as bags, seats and inflight WiFi.
“The addition of nonstop service to New York-Newark marks a significant milestone for our Airport and community,” said Dominique Ranieri, CEO & Airport Director of West Virginia International Yeager Airport. “This flight connects West Virginia and the Northeast, fostering new opportunities for tourism and business growth in our region.”
