First Lady Invites Local Artisans to Help Decorate the Governor’s Mansion Christmas Tree
Celebrating 100 Years of the Governor’s Mansion with Handmade Ornaments
Charleston, WV – West Virginia First Lady Denise Morrisey invites local artisans to join the celebration of the Governor’s Mansion’s 100th anniversary by submitting handmade, history-themed ornaments for this year’s Christmas tree.
“This year marks a century of history and beauty for the Governor’s Mansion, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this milestone than with custom ornaments that honor our state’s rich history,” said First Lady Denise Morrisey. “I invite local artisans of all ages to submit their creations, and I look forward to seeing all of the unique designs hanging on our beautiful tree.”
Ornaments should be history-inspired, lightweight, and suitable for hanging. Suggested materials include glass bulbs, paper garland, and items used to decorate in the 1920s. All submissions must be mailed or hand-delivered to the West Virginia Culture Center by Friday, November 21. The decorated Christmas tree will be on display from December 1, 2025 through January 2, 2025. Prizes will be awarded to the creators of the top three ornament designs.
