4 places to pamper yourself on a WV getaway
Want to spend your vacation laying back in a sauna, soaking in a hot tub or getting a massage? Well, West Virginia has plenty of beautiful mountain resorts that can cater to your most luxurious, pampering needs.
Here are some pampering vacation spots that are less “wild,” and more “wonderful” in the Mountain State:
1. The Resort at Glade Springs, Daniels
After a day on nearby rapids, mountain bike trails, the golf course or ski slopes, you can return to The Resort at Glade Springs, known in Raleigh County as simply “The Resort.” This distinctive, all-encompassing resort offers a full range of spa treatments: full body massages, facial/skin treatments, waxings, manicure/pedicures and more.
If you’re a bride-to-be getting married at The Resort, make sure you get their full-service treatment, including rose petal wraps and orange massages.
2. Stonewall Resort, Roanoke
Located within the Stonewall Jackson Lake Wildlife Management Area, Stonewall Resort caters to guests who enjoy all sorts of lake activities, golf, hiking and just enjoying the beautiful rolling hills of central West Virginia.
Before settling into one of their luxury cottages with that special someone, pamper yourself with a classic manicure or pedicure, or one of their special Swedish massages.
3. The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs
The stately The Greenbrier resort is truly one of our country’s oldest and most classic resorts– travelers as early as the 1770s would visit the area to “take the waters” for therapeutic soaking, and it was a major meeting place for southern politicians and bigwigs from the 1830s on to the present.
You can still enjoy soaks in its mineral sulphur waters, just as people in centuries past have. Sit back and re-examine yourself in meditation and healing workshops.
4. Berkeley Springs State Park
Like the Greenbrier, Berkeley Springs has been a destination for people to pamper themselves in natural hot spring water since before the United States even existed. The park itself is set in a beautiful historic town of stone buildings and landscaping; you will be relaxed just coming here. You can enjoy a variety of hot water soaks in the park’s jacuzzis or Roman baths, before completely melting away with one of their Swedish massages.
