The area features scenic vistas, pristine rivers, unique rock formations, and plant and wildlife often found much more north in areas of Canada. For a unique and out-of-the-ordinary overnight stay, head over the Seneca State Forest to the Thorny Mountain Fire Tower. After six years of renovations, a fire tower is now an accommodating home among the treeline. The tower was once used to look for wildfires, but now the 14-by-14 foot space contains two cots for overnight travelers. There is more window space than wall space within the tower, offering a 360-degree view of Cheat Mountain and Green Bank.
