Almost Heaven is the Perfect Place to Learn to Ski and Snowboard this Season

January in Almost Heaven is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, which makes it the perfect time to finally learn how to ski, snowboard or maybe both. During the month of January take a lesson at one of West Virginia’s incredible mountain resorts and you’ll be on your way to hitting the slopes like a pro.

Canaan Valley Resort State Park

At Canaan Valley Resort State Park professional ski instructors are on hand to help you master new skills. The resort offers group and private lessons as well as children’s ski and ride programs. A perfect place to learn, the resort has dedicated more than 30 percent of its terrain to beginners including the Critters Crawl, a dedicated area for beginners with a magic carpet lift.

Winterplace Ski Resort

Consistently voted as an incredible place to learn to ski and snowboard in the Southeast, Winterplace Ski Resorts ski and snowboard school provides a fun and educational experience for all. The resorts ski and snowboard school offer group and private lessons as well as terrain-based learning. At Winterplace Ski Resort you’ll find a specifically designed teaching area with two super carpet lifts.

Oglebay Resort

Learn how to ski and snowboard this season at beautiful Oglebay Resort. At Oglebay Resort beginners can take private lessons and the resort also offers children’s ski and snowboard clinics. After lessons take time to have some fun tubing, the perfect break after learning a new skill.

West Virginia Ski Areas Association

If you have a child interested in learning to ski or snowboard, the West Virginia Ski Areas Association’s 4th and 5th Grade Passport Program allows any child in the 4th or 5th grade to ski or snowboard for free at all of West Virginia’s ski areas, Canaan Valley Resort State Park, Oglebay Resort, Snowshoe Mountain Resort and Winterplace Ski Resort.
