Getting There and Getting Around
This year’s West Virginia Governor’s Conference on Tourism will be held in the capital city, Charleston! The conference offerings will be centered around the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. Parking directions can be found on the Convention Center’s website. Parking is cash only and is $5.00 on Monday and Tuesday! The parking garage has a clearance of 6′ 7″ so if you have a tall vehicle please park in the lot across the street.
Upon arrival, check-in and registration will be located in the Upper Main Lobby of the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center (200 Civic Center Dr, Charleston, WV 25301.) You’ll find our staff in the main lobby, where you will be directed to pick up your welcome bag and name tag.

Shuttle transportation provided by the KRT will be available for many of the conference activities, as noted in the program. The KRT has reserved its Art Bus and Trolley exclusively for our conference so please only board these shuttles for conference activities.
In addition to the shuttle service, the city is very walkable & public transportation is available. There is so much to do and see in Charleston that is easily accessible!
Conference App
This year, we are introducing a new way to experience the Governor’s Conference on Tourism. You can download the ExpoPass app in the Apple App Store or on Google Play. All of our detailed information can be accessed using your Magic Link that you will receive to your email on September 5, 2024.
What is a Magic Link? A Magic Link is the unique link to download the conference app that can be found in your email. If you can’t find it, just stop by the registration booth and they can send you your link on-site. If you have any questions related to the app, our registration team can help!
What to Wear
As you prepare to join us in the capital city, please consider packing the following items so you’re ready to enjoy your time to the fullest:
- Business Casual Attire – For day-to-day activities, bring your casual attire to network, attend breakouts and enjoy events.
- Your Best Cocktail Attire – For our Night at the Museum sponsored by Madden Media, keep it classy by dressing in your best cocktail attire for our annual Stars of Almost Heaven Awards dinner.
- Layers and Rain Jacket – You never know about the weather this time of year. Be prepared with some options for cool evenings and sunny afternoons.
- Walking Shoes – Whether you are going on a walking tour or exploring on your own, make sure to bring comfy shoes to explore the city!
Individual Assistance Appointments
We hope you will take advantage of our exclusive conference offering: Individual Assistance Appointments for Economic Development, Social Media, International Tourism & Cooperative Advertising. When attending these appointments, if you have information about your specific needs such as planning documents, market studies, or feasibility studies, please bring those along. If you are in the early stages of your project and would just like to have an initial conversation with our experts about how to get started, that’s fine too!
Additional Activities
To make the most of your time in Charleston, we have planned several events and activities that you will want to be a part of. Some of these require additional registration by September 2, 2024, and are subject to limited availability.
- Night at the Ballpark – Join us for the opening night reception: a Charleston Dirty Birds game & ballpark dinner on 9/8. Reservations for this event are closed.
- Scootin’ Around the City – During lunch on Tuesday, 9/10, we will be offering optional excursions, including a scooter ride around Charleston with Active Southern WV. Register here.
- Exploring Elk City on Foot – During lunch on Tuesday, 9/10, we will be offering optional excursions, including an Elk City walking tour with Country Roads Tours. Register here.
