WVAA Stars & Coffee Star Party – Summit Lake Dam Area - May 16, 2026

Get ready for an awesome night under the stars at the Summit Lake Dam Area. This is an in-person event where you can enjoy great company, fascinating views of the sky, and, of course, some coffee to keep you cozy. Whether you’re a seasoned astrophotographer or love looking up, come hang out and explore the cosmos with us! Don’t forget your warm clothes and a sense of wonder! Bring your own telescope, smarscope, camera setup, etc, or utilize one of the WVAA Seestar or Dwarf smartscopes.

Directions from Richwood, WV: Take WV-39/WV-55 and follow for about 7.3 miles, then turn left on Summit Lake Road (CR-39/5) for 2.1 miles. Next, turn slightly left on Public Road 944 for 0.25 miles until you reach the dam parking area.

First-come, first-served camping. Rustic w/ vault toilets. Richwood/Marlinton are the closest towns with modern accommodations.
