WVAA/KVAS/CVT Messier Marathon

March 29 @ 7:00 pm - March 30 @ 7:00 am

Whether you’re a seasoned astronomer or just starting out, this event is perfect for all levels of stargazers. Bring your telescope or binoculars, and get ready to spot all 110 Messier objects in one night. It’s a challenging but rewarding experience that you won’t want to miss. Don’t forget to pack some snacks and warm clothes for a night of celestial exploration!

A Messier Marathon is an attempt to find as many Messier objects as possible during one night. The Messier catalogue was compiled by French astronomer Charles Messier during the late 18th century and consists of 110 relatively bright deep sky objects (galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters).

This event is co-hosted by the West Virginia Astrophotography Association, Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society and Camp Virgil Tate.
