The range and complexity of percussion instruments will amaze as guest artist, Svet Stoyanov joins the WSO to perform Jennifer Higdon’s Percussion Concerto. The concert concludes with Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 (From the New World) one of the most popular symphonic works in the repertoire. Dvorak was inspired by the music of Native Americans and African American spirituals. Astronaut Neil Armstrong took a recording of this symphony on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, the first landing on the moon!
