The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame presents a screening of the documentary “Mike Morningstar: Here’s to the Working Man” with introduction and commentary by filmmaker Richard Anderson and Mike Morningstar.
Parkersburg native Mike Morningstar, a future WVMHoF inductee, is a much-loved singer/songwriter who has played throughout West Virginia and the Ohio Valley for over 50 years. His music is steeped in his West Virginia working-class roots, but was also profoundly influenced by a stint in Vietnam.
In 2016, the film debuted to a sold-out house in Parkersburg. It was featured at The West Virginia International Film Festival in Charleston and won “Honorable Mention” at The Workers Unite Film Festival in New York City.
Richard Anderson is a Baltimore-based filmmaker whose other films include “What About Auburn,” “Where Sky Meets Eternity,” and “HomeBrood.”
The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame’s “Glotfelty Film Series” screens films about the music and musicians of West Virginia on the second Thursday of every month.
