Join us for our 51st annual Appalachian Christmas celebration in early 1800s-style West(ern) Virginia. Our 8-acre campus, featuring 17 restored log structures, comes alive to take visitors back in time. This four-day event offers a variety of activities, with schedules available on our website. Explore open cabins with costumed interpreters and heritage artisans, enjoy live music, and sample chestnuts roasted over an open fire. Meet Der Belsnickle, a German tradition, as he greets children with treats for good behavior. A highlight is the nightly Grand Processional and Tree Lighting. Starting with a community choir caroling at 5:30, costumed interpreters with candles, led by Der Belsnickle, parade around the candle-lit commons to the Christmas tree. The ceremony concludes with caroling and a recessional at 5:45. Don’t forget to try our hot Wassail steeped over the fire! Handicapped accessible shuttles and off-site parking are available. General admission is $8, with free entry for guests 10 and under.
