Spirit of Christmas in the Mountains

Join us for our 50th annual celebration of Appalachian Christmas in West Virginia of the early 1800’s. Watch as our 8-acre campus which includes 17 restored log structures comes alive and we take visitors back in time.

This is a four-day event and some activities may vary daily (visit our website for the latest schedule).

Our cabins are open with costumed interpreters and heritage artisans with live music played throughout the day.

Come meet Der Belsnickle, our interpretation of a German tradition, as he greets kids offering a treat if they have been good.

Another visitor favorite is our Grand Processional/Tree Lighting which occurs nightly as our closing activity.

A community choir begins caroling until 5:30. At that time our costumed interpreters carrying lighted candles gather and are led by Der Belsnickle around our “commons” that decorated with luminaries to our Christmas Tree . The caroling continues as we light the candles and ends around 5:45 when our recessional occurs.

Der Belsnickle and our tree lighting occur each day. During your visit, be sure to try our hot Wassail steeped on the open fire!

General admission is $7 with guests 10 & under admitted free.
