The annual Osbra Eye Memorial Spring Walks are set for Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Kanawha State Forest near Charleston. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Nature Center (Kanawha State Forest, 7500 Kanawha State Forest Drive, Charleston, WV). A variety of guided walks featuring topics that include wildflowers, medicinal/edible plants, trees, birding and the history of the Forest are walk focuses. There will even be a “mobility-limited” wildflower walk. Attendees should bring cameras and binoculars.
The participation fee is $7 adults and $2 for walkers ages 12 to 18; children under 12 are free. The walks will be assisted by staff from the State Parks Section of the Division of Natural Resources, the Kanawha Valley Master Naturalists, the Handlan Chapter of the Brooks Bird Club, the Mary Ingles Trail Blazers and the West Virginia Native Plant Society.
