Mon Forest Bikepacking Summit - May 29, 2026

May 29 @ 5:00 pm - June 1 @ 3:00 pm

For the last two years, Bikepacking Roots has held a bikepacking summit on the East Coast, bringing together participants over four days to celebrate riding in beautiful landscapes, inclusive community building, and shared learning among bikepackers of all levels.

This year, in partnership with Mon Forest Towns, Bikepacking Roots is heading to Marlinton, West Virginia. This summit also celebrates the launch of our new Mon Forest Towns Gravel & Bikepacking Route Network, and we can’t wait to show you around and ride together! This event is hosted in partnership with Mon Forest Towns and Pocahontas County.

This is a great event for people curious about bikepacking, and we will offer rides and overnights of varying distances. All day rides and overnights are non-competitive and no-drop. All rides will have ride leaders at the front helping show the way, and sweeps riding at the back meaning no one will be left behind or riding by themselves. While all riders are expected to carry their own gear, have bikes in good working order, and bring repair kits, we’ll have plenty of volunteers on hand to help should you have a mechanical issue. And we’ll aim to leave plenty of time for rest and snack breaks! Check out the distance and elevations on the overnight ride overviews above to see how they compare to what you’ve ridden before, and reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns!

If you are planning to stick to the shortest overnight, that will mostly be on the Greenbrier River Trail, which is mostly a packed gravel trail, so we recommend a minimum of 32mm tires. If you are planning to join the longer gravel overnights, a bike with 40+mm tires and gearing for hills is advised. If you want to explore the Monday Lick Trail network right outside of town, bring a mountain bike.
