Celebration of the 250th Anniversary of Fort Warwick, constructed by colonial Virginia militia at the forks of Deer Creek in 1774. The event, in Green Bank, Pocahontas County, features colonial reenactors, artisans and musicians demonstrating 18th century music. Archaeological excavations of Fort Warwick will be onging: visitors can participate and/or observe. Visitors can tour the Fort Warwick Museum’s displays of artifacts and fort replicas and purchase booklets on the frontier defense of the region. Visitors can also tour the Warwick historic cemetery and a sugar shack that produces maple syrup using traditional techniques.
