The Elk River Fest was created to celebrate Clay County’sbeautiful river environment and mountain heritage. We host many free, entertaining events such
as, “Anything That Floats but a Boat” race, “Catapult
Catfish” contest, wheelbarrow race, hammering contests, scavenger hunts,
Mr. Bottom Feeder’s Pageant, kayak race, sidewalk art contest and Cherokee
Indian Exhibition. We have many free
activities and contests for children, such as casting contests, “Prize
Bobber Drop”, crafts, “Fishin’ with Jim” on the bank of the Elk
and more! There are small fees for corn
hole, horseshoe and commode seat horseshoe contests. We have great food, wonderful music, lots of
zany contests and cash prizes! We have
several demonstrations including blacksmithing and leathercraft. Booths for handmade arts and crafts are very
reasonable, informational booths are free!
This year’s Fest is being held in conjunction with the Grand Opening of
the 22 mile Buffalo Creek Recreational Trail and The Elk River Challenge Triathlon.
Hours: Friday – Noon – 9:00 p.m.; Saturday 9:00 a.m. –
9:00 p.m.
