45th Annual Apple Butter Festival

October 6, 2018 - October 7, 2018

Free

Join us for the 45th Annual Apple Butter Festival! With no admission fee and activities for all ages, this is the perfect day or weekend experience for everyone from grandma to the kids.

The traditional harvest festival is kicked off by a nostalgic hometown parade on Saturday morning followed by two days worth of family-friendly games and contests, live music, country food, trolley rides, wine tasting and beer garden, fine arts and local crafts. Undisputed star of the festival is the spicy apple butter stirred in giant copper kettles in the middle of the square.

Vintage Market is a new addition to the nearly 200 vendors.  Located on quirky Independence St. with its newly decorated parking meters, Vintage Market is a pickers paradise filled with antiques and collectibles.

The popular Craft Beer Garden gets musical accompaniment this year with the hot acoustic bluegrass sound of “All Grassed Up” Saturday from 1-4pm. BBQ chicken and pork is also available in the Beer Garden this year and the nearby food area is bursting at the seams offering a wide variety of tastes as well as the wildly popular Amish donuts.

Family-friendly games draw huge crowds to watch turtles race, babes judge beards, amateurs call hogs and pairs of contestants toss raw eggs.  Lines form to buy winning entries in the apple bake contest.  A Farmers Market highlights local produce, honey, home preserves and more apple butter; mountain cooking abounds; and West Virginia wineries show their wares. More than 100 contemporary and traditional artists and crafts people display and sell their work in the streets, local shops and at the Ice House showing why Berkeley Springs regularly places among the top art destinations in America.

The timing in early October guarantees that technicolor mountain scenery frames the two-day event.  With no admission fee and activities for all ages, this is the perfect day or weekend experience for everyone from grandma to the kids. Modestly priced parking with a shuttle is available on lots throughout the town run by civic groups.

Located in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, Berkeley Springs is a 90-minute drive and half-tank round trip from Washington or Baltimore and an easy trip from points west and north.  For more information call the Apple Butter Festival at 1-800-447-8797, visit us online at berkeleysprings.com/festivals/apple-butter-festival or join more than 9000 enthusiastic fans of Apple Butter Festival WV on Facebook.
