15th Annual Bowed Psaltery Symphony - May 7, 2026

The 15th Annual Bowed Psaltery Symphony will return to Cedar Lakes Conference Center in the Assembly Hall. Celebrate the rich heritage of Appalachian string band music. Directed by Tish and Greg Westman, the symphony brings together musicians from across the country who rehearse virtually throughout the year. This year’s theme, Appalachian String Band Music, highlights traditional melodies rooted in Scottish and Irish fiddle tunes and African American banjo traditions, creating a rhythmic, layered sound that has shaped American folk and country music.
