Moonshine is a clear corn whiskey that is distilled from fermented corn mash. When aged for two years it becomes Bourbon Whiskey. The fresh corn whiskey is Moonshine and is consumed without aging.
Beginning production in 1999, the West Virginia Distilling Company began making legal moonshine. The distiller is West Virginia’s first modern era distilled spirits plant with license WV-DRB-1. Mountain Moonshine is currently available in many liquor stores in West Virginia.
