Mountwood Park Family Campground

Mountwood Park is a county park located 12 miles east of Parkersburg, West Virginia on US Route 50. The park contains over 50 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, campgrounds, a 50-acre lake and wooded picnic areas.

Mountwood Park Family Campground offers 87 campsites suitable for tents, trailers and recreational vehicles. The campground has 16 full hookup sites, 64 sites with electric/water and 7 primitive sites. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Multiple bathhouses are located throughout the campground offering hot showers and clean restroom facilities. Firewood, ice, souvenirs and camping supplies are available from the campground host while on duty. Families can enjoy a variety of campground activities throughout the season. A playground and New Nature Trail are also available for registered campers.

Want to go camping but not in a tent? Try one of Mountwood’s Primitive Cabins located in Mountwood Family Campground. Each cabin comes equipped with electric, two sets of bunk beds, ceiling fans/lights and a table with four chairs. Each Primitive Cabin has a fire ring and a charcoal grill and is located near the bathhouse and playground. Maximum occupancy is four people.

Mountwood Park has a beautiful lakeside house with two units available for lodging. This pristine lakeside house is located along the shore of Mountwood Lake. Each unit has one bedroom with a queen bed and a sleeper sofa in the living room, sleeping a total of four people. The units are completely equipped for housekeeping with cooking utensils, dishes, linens, blankets, kitchens with modern appliances, and baths with built in shower/tub units. Guests need only to supply food and personal items. Unit #1 has a large built-on deck perfect for any family barbecue outing. Both units have central air and heating, making them a perfect place to enjoy a vacation getaway close to home. Maximum occupancy is up to six people in each unit.

Also enjoy the boat dock with canoe and kayak rentals–The 50-acre lake is stocked during the winter months by the DNR with trout. The lake also has catfish, large-mouth bass, crappie, carp, sun fish, baitfish, muskie and crayfish; games area, shelters, 20 miles of hiking and mountain biking trail–These trails are also open year round, and offer four seasons of riding enjoyment through scenic, rocky woodlands and the historic ruins of the nineteenth-century oil community of Volcano; picnicking, birding, mini-golf course, 18 hole disc golf course and public shooting range.
