Gauley River National Recreation Area
Glen Jean, WVGauley River National Recreation Area was created in 1988 to protect the gorges and swift, winding waters of 25 miles of the Gauley River and five miles of the Meadow River. The area offers picnicking, primitive camping at the tail waters area, hunting, fishing, and whitewater boating. The Gauley River is considered to be among the best whitewater rivers in the world by expert kayakers, canoeists, and rafters. The majority of the land within the National Recreation Area is private property. Please respect the rights of all property owners.
