Coal River Science & Education Center

Tornado, WV

The Coal River Center is an educational and informational center for visitors to the Coal River Watershed region. The Log lodge is
situated in the Kanawha County's Meadowood Park and overlooks the historic Upper Falls of the Coal River. An outdoor classroom and a self- guided tour offers visitors with information about the river and the region. The River Center is also the headquarters for the non-Profit Coal River Group.

The Cabin at the River Center can be rented for private events, such as weddings, conferences, reunions, and meetings. With a large indoor meeting space, breathtaking views of Upper Falls, plenty of parking, and handicap access, the CRG's River Center is the perfect place for your next event! Contact CRG Chairman Bill Currey for more details on making reservations: 304-419-4417 or bike1@suddenlink.net.

The Coal River Kayak and Canoe Rental business is also located at the site and offers Kayak and Canoe Rentals to the public. The location also is equipped with a 1.6 mile walking and running trail, two wilderness trails and a river front portage trail. An 8 acre fishing lake is on site and all the amenities are available to the public. An 18 hole golf course (Big Bend) is also located nearby.
