Bluestone National Scenic River

Bluestone National Scenic River was created in 1988, to protect 10.5 miles of the Bluestone River as a free-flowing river. This stretch of river is also managed by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources as part of the Bluestone Wildlife Management Area. Whitewater boating is possible at some water levels. Camping is prohibited, but is available at the adjacent state parks. The 8-mile Bluestone Turnpike Trail, is open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Hunting and fishing are allowed at Bluestone National Scenic River, although hunting is prohibited at the adjacent state parks.
