Cocoa-palooza! Taste your way through this chocolate town
During the Lewisburg Chocolate Festival, the charming little town transforms into a scene straight out of Willy Wonka.
Every corner of town is filled with heart-eyed chocolate lovers, shuffling from stand to stand with an arsenal of tasting tickets.
Eager faces meet shiney pie tins full of ooey-gooey, light and fluffy chocolate mousse during an eating contest. Piles and piles of concoctions line tabletops.
Lewisburg has been home to the popular festival for an entire decade, so you could say they’ve gotten pretty darn good at this whole chocolate thing. They’ve grown the event to more than 35,000 tasting tickets every year.
And you’ve gotta grab ‘em quick! They sell out!
For the traditional chocolate lover, there are decadent truffles, chocolate covered strawberries and the good old fashioned cookie.
For the less-inhibited, we’ve heard wild tales of chocolate-covered-cherry Jell-O shots and grilled salmon fillets dressed in white chocolate sauce (Yep, you read that right. Many local restaurants feature chocolate-centric savory dinner items.)
We know your taste buds (and metabolism) are going to reach a reluctant chocolate threshold. The festival is oozing with chocolate-oriented events that luckily don’t all involve calories.
Plop down in front of the big screen to catch a nostalgic glimpse of ol’ Willy Wonka and his factory, watch professional chefs mold chocolate into a work of an art or get rid of the guilt in the Chocolate Chase 10k.
Whether you’re a self-proclaimed chocoholic, or maybe a little indifferent, we’re confident the Lewisburg Chocolate Festival can make a chocolate lover out of you.
What’s your favorite cocoa indulgence?
