Check Out Some of Our Favorite Winter Photo-Ops in West Virginia
Nothing makes West Virginia memories sweeter than finding unique, beautiful spots to get your picture taken. From stunning waterfalls to scenic Almost Heaven swings, you’ll be set to add some iconic photos to your camera roll.
This winter, make the most of your time exploring the Mountain State and check out some of our favorite photo-ops.
📍Almost Heaven Swings
Have you seen those iconic Almost Heaven swings on Instagram? There’s no better way to capture your next social media post backdrop. West Virginia has over 50 swing locations and welcomes you to explore them all. The swings at North Bend State Park, Grand Vue Park and Canaan Valley Resort State Park are some of our favorites, to name a few.😉

📍New River Gorge National Park and Preserve
Home to 70,000 acres of adventure-filled wilderness, the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve turns into a winter wonderland in the wintertime. For an incredible view of the famous New River Gorge Bridge, head to one of the two Canyon Rim Visitor Center observation decks. Follow the wooden walkway and steps to the bottom and get an up-close view of the 876-foot-tall legend.
Feeling a frosty hike through the snow? Take an easy stroll on Long Point Trail, which is about 1.6 miles one-way and leads you to a stunning panoramic view of the bridge. This makes an incredible photo-op for those looking to show off their West Virginia hike. 🥾

📍Blackwater Falls State Park
Blackwater Falls State Park is a fan favorite for a reason. After taking your photo on the Almost Heaven swing, hop on the Blackwater Falls Boardwalk Trail, which is only a quarter-mile long and takes you to the breathtaking Blackwater Falls. This waterfall stands at 57 feet and gets its “black” waters from fallen hemlock needles staining. Get your photo taken in front of the falls and check this off on the West Virginia Waterfall Trail! 🌊

📍Babcock State Park
Where postcard-tier aesthetics meets reality, Babcock State Park is the perfect state park to explore a little bit of everything. Babcock retains its renowned beauty for all four seasons and serves as an unbeatable backdrop for your next social media photo dump. Pose the wooden walkway leading to the Glade Creek Grist Mill, hop on the Almost Heaven swing or stand in front of the Glade Creek Grist Mill Falls. ❄️
