A New Festival for Music Lovers 🎵

Charlie West Music Fest brings something fresh and exciting to Charleston’s event scene. For the first time in 2025, music lovers will gather at the University of Charleston for an all-day celebration featuring an eclectic mix of musicians spanning genres from funky jazz fusion to hip-hop. It’s the perfect chance to discover new sounds, groove to familiar hits and experience a variety of performances in a beautiful outdoor setting.

This inaugural festival will feature a dynamic lineup that guarantees something for everyone. Here’s a rundown of the artists you’ll be seeing.

Woody “Woodrow” Woods (DJ Host)

Woody has been a staple of Charleston radio for over 25 years. Now, the afternoon On-Air Personality and Program Director at WRVZ 107.3 The Beat, Woody’s wit and work ethic have made him a local radio legend.

Bob Thompson Unit

3-4:30 p.m.

A beloved staple of West Virginia’s jazz scene for over two decades, Bob Thompson and his bandmates will deliver a funky jazz fusion performance to get the festival started right. Known for their high-energy sets and incredible musicianship, this band will leave an impression on all in attendance.

Joslyn & The Sweet Compression

4:50-6:20 p.m.

Bringing the soulful vibes, Joslyn’s powerful vocals and the band’s unique blend of funk, soul, and R&B will have the crowd grooving. Their energetic live shows are magical, and this set will light up the stage.

Of Good Nature

6:40-8:10 p.m.

Ready for something new? Of Good Nature blends rock, alternative, folk and world music into a sonic experience that is both innovative and soulful. With brass harmonies, technical drumming and an upbeat positive energy, they’re the perfect act to leave you feeling uplifted.

Shwayze

8:30-10 p.m.

Wrapping up the night is the one and only Shwayze! With hits like “Buzzin'” and “Corona and Lime,” this Malibu-born artist brings a laid-back hiphop/alternative sound that’ll have you vibing all night long. Shwayze’s infectious beats are guaranteed the perfect finale to an unforgettable night.

What to Expect at the Inaugural Charlie West Music Fest

As this exciting new festival debuts in 2025, here’s what you need to know to make the most of
your experience:

  • Hours: Gates open at 2:30 p.m., and the music kicks off at 3 p.m. sharp!
  • Ticket Info: Your ticket grants you access to seven full hours of live music, but please note that food and drink purchases are separate transactions.
  • ID Requirements: Bring a valid ID that matches the name on your ticket for check-in.
  • Family-Friendly: Kids 12 and under get free wristbands with a paying adult, making this an event the whole family can enjoy.
  • Happy Hour: $5 Happy Hour drink tickets will be available from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

What You Can Bring

You’re welcome to bring small coolers (10 quarts or smaller) with snacks or ice. Chairs and blankets are also encouraged, so you can settle in and enjoy the show! Please note that no large bags or pets will be allowed, and beverages other than sealed water bottles cannot be brought into the festival.
