Olson Observation Tower

First built in 1922, the Olson Observation Tower is the one of the oldest towers in the state and was the first steel tower. What was once used to spot raging wildfires in the distance now gives way to stunning views of the magnificent Monongahela National Forest. Climb the 133 steps to reach an elevation of almost 4,000 feet that comes with a cool, summer breeze. Stand at peace as you stare into the vast, sprawling beauty of the Mountain State. Discover this hidden gem at the end of Forest Road 717, which can be accessed via U.S. Route 219.

Thorny Mountain Fire Tower

Catch 360-degree panoramic views like never before from the Thorny Mountain Fire Tower. Overlooking the Seneca State Forest, this tower still has all of the original features from the original construction in 1935. What’s special about this tower is that guests are able to rent out the cab for an overnight stay. Witness a once-in-a-lifetime sunrise and sunset with only natural light serving as your guide. It’s recommended to make your reservation up to a year in advance due to the increasing popular demand.

Bickle Knob Observation Tower

Find yourself amongst a thriving ecosystem when visiting the Bickle Knob Observation Tower.
