Explore these breathtaking spots that perfectly capture the beauty of Randolph County.

Bickle Knob

Take a long trek up the winding mountain road, just past Stuart Recreation Area in Bowden, and climb the tower for a complete panoramic view of Randolph County. During the warmer months, the forest road is maintained, making the tower easily accessible by vehicle with space for parking at its base. Gaze as far as the eye can see and take in the mountainous views from every angle. Locals will tell you it doesn’t matter how many times they’ve seen the view; it takes their breath away every time they reach the top. There’s no way you can leave without a photo.

Guadineer Knob

Forest Service Road 27A is well maintained during the warmer months and leads right to the summit of Gaudineer Knob. Walk the moss-lined path through the towering spruce trees to feel like you’ve entered a fairyland. The approximately 0.5-mile loop will lead you to a fantastic overlook of the forested mountains. Bring a lunch to picnic beneath the trees. This spot is also magical in the snow when it turns into a winter wonderland. Remember that the Forest Service Road is not maintained in the winter, so don’t venture out unless you are properly prepared! Snap a photo of the mossy trail and overlook to share with all your friends.

Graceland Inn

This beautiful structure sits in the center of Davis & Elkins College’s campus and is a focal point of the community. The architecture and original features dating back to 1893 will stop you in your tracks. Not to mention, the view from the veranda is a perfect combination of the Elkins cityscape and rural mountains. It’s a great place to get the perfect shot for your Instagram feed.

High Falls of Cheat

For an extra exciting excursion, hop aboard the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley‘s New Tygart Flyer train, for a trip to High Falls. Although this beautiful scene can be accessed by a short walk, how many times can you post an Instagram story of a vintage train taking you through the mountains of West Virginia? If you’re up for a hike, the falls are also accessible by trail, but make sure to read this blog before embarking as it is a moderate to difficult hike.

Mill Creek Falls

Nestled within Kumbrabow State Forest is Mill Creek Falls. This spot can be accessed by a quick hike through the forest, or by vehicle during the warmer months. It’s the perfect place to dip your feet in the water or even find a few crawfish in the rocks. The rushing falls are the perfect backdrop for a quick photo to show off your hike!

The Forks Inn

The Forks Inn is your one-stop shop for the ultimate foodie Instagram post! With a diverse and delicious menu adorned with local and homemade items, you’ll want to take a picture of everything your server brings to the table.
