Downtown Street Fest

Head down to Capitol Street for Downtown Streetfest block party Saturday, July 22. Meet up with friends and family between 4:30 and 9 p.m. for live music, food and drinks, kid's activities, pop-up shops and much more. Grab a bite to eat at your favorite downtown establishments and listen to some live music. This event coincides with the Glow Run 5K, an all-age run that will light up the downtown street. The race starts at 9 p.m. during Downtown Streetfest, with runners and walkers decked out in glow sticks and neon. Downtown Streetfest is sponsored by City National Bank, along with sponsorship support from the Charleston Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Kanawha County Public Library and Tony the Tailor. Downtown Streetfest block parties are also scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 26 and Saturday, Sept. 23.

Go to Hale Block Party

The Charleston Area Alliance will present Go to Hale, a FestivALL event, 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 along Hale Street, between Virginia and Quarrier Streets and between Quarrier and Lee Streets. Complimenting the already popular Capitol Street Art Fair, Children's Art Fair and Kanawha County Public Library Street Fair, Go to Hale is a block party with live music, drinks and pop-up shops. Go to Hale is sponsored by Brewer Fire. Go to Hale will serve as the kick-off for the Downtown Open pop-up putt-putt golf course located on sidewalks and green spaces throughout downtown. Each of the course holes is sponsored by local businesses who have worked to finish and personalize the miniature golf platforms with décor and obstacles prior to the event.

Current PDGA membership is required to register for this tournament. Must have minimum of 4 per division in order to establish division. ArtWalk

Hit the trails at Kanawha State Forest for the annual Osbra Eye Memorial Wildflower Walks. One of WV's premiere spring wildflower walks! Multiple hike and leaders. National Kids to Parks Day

Getting ready to spend the summer outside? Come spend a day at Wine Cellar Park as the City of Dunbar celebrates it's eighth annual Kids Day to the Parks, along with open fishing day. This year a few of the activities planned from 10am to 2pm for kids will include: a fishing competition for the first fish, scavenger hunt, disc golf, archery, BB gun safety, and making s'mores and hotdogs. The Annual Stand Against Racism Day Program Featuring: The Project on Racism Essay Contest

The MLK Commission, in conjunction with the YWCA Wheeling hosts annually, The Project on Racism Essay Contest that honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., while encouraging grades K-12 students’ creativity through essay writing. This year, first, second and third place winners will be recognized and the first place winners will read their essays. Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth. Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory – or suffer the consequences. We are thrilled to announce our Exceptional Stars production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Junior the Musical. Performances will take place on March 10th, 11th, and 12th, 2017 at the Civic Center's Little Theatre. Youth Organizations United (YOU) is a collaboration between the Appalachian Children's Chorus, the River City Youth Ballet Ensemble and the WV Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Original Harlem Globetrotters are preparing for their action packed 2017 World Tour! A star-studded roster will have fans on the edge of their seats to witness the ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that thrills fans of all ages. New this season, the Globetrotters will debut basketball’s first 4-point line. The 4-point line will be located 30 feet from the basket – 6 feet, 3 inches beyond the top of the NBA’s current 3-point line. Christmas Light Show

Christmas Fantasy Light Show

Drive through over 30 unique animated light displays and over a million lights throughout Krodel Park from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. nightly. Country Fall Festival

West Virginia's State Farm Museum's Annual Country Fall Festival includes an Antique Gas Engine Show, CEO's Quilt Show, Antique Bottle Show and Antique Tractor Pull. Watch the making of apple butter, apple cider and sorghum. For sale. Tour over 30 buildings and cabins full of exhibits of a different time. Farm animals to pet. Battle Days Festival

Battle Days is the Commemoration and Memorial of the Battle of Point Pleasant October 10, 1774 between the Virginia Militia and Shawnee confederation of tribes under Chief Cornstalk at Tu-Endie-Wei State Park. Friday: School tours, frontier craft demonstrations and encampment. "History in the Round" with historical reenactors in the evening. Saturday: Parade 11am. Re-enactors frontier encampment, crafts, music and food. Colonial Ball in the evening. Sunday: Memorial Services. Full schedule TBA.

Mothman Festival

Come and join paranormal enthusiasts from all over the world at the 16th Annual Mothman Festival, as the small town of Point Pleasant, transforms into one of the largest Paranormal Conventions in the east to celebrate the Mothman Legend. MothMan Geo Trail

The World's Only Mothman Museum presents the first ever Mothman Geo Trail. A series of 12 caches all relating to the Mothman legend. Activities all day! Giveaways, games, and an introduction to caching seminar for those who have never been geocaching. If you haven't geocached, you can get a little education on it and some help from experienced cachers. Friday evening Welcome Party at the Riverfront Park. WV State Farm Museum’s Tractor Parade & Show

A parade of farm tractors start at 9 a.m. from the WV State Farm Museum to Downtown Point Pleasant and back. The parade is followed by tractor games and equipment demonstrations. Farm Museum Country Kitchen and Gift Shop open.

Annual Belle of Cincinnati Dinner Cruise

The Point Pleasant River Museum is bringing back an evening to remember, reminiscent of the days of the early excursion boats. As the Belle of Cincinnati travels on the beautiful Ohio River, a delicious buffet-style meal will be served and the well-known local singer, Joey Wilcoxon, will be entertaining, furnishing music for dancing or just listening. The cruise is 2 1/2 hours long, leaving the dock at Point Pleasant's Riverfront Park at 7 p.m. Guests need to board by 6:30 p.m. Photographer is available for pictures. Boat has four decks, two of which are accessible by elevator, and one is walk-on. Handicap accessible to wheelchairs and scooters. Tickets are $50.00 for adults and children ages 4-12 are $25.00.

Rails & Ales Craft Beer Festival

The annual event will feature live music, food from local restaurants, artisan vendors, and specialty craft beer from West Virginia breweries and craft breweries across the US and from around the world. We’ll be updating our beer list as we get commitments from breweries. Check back often for the most up-to-date information! The festival will be held rain or shine and there will be no refunds. All attendees must have a ticket and must be 21 years or older. Small children can attend if they are carried by their parents at all times – no strollers will be allowed. We are excited to launch a smartphone app this year to help you navigate the festival and keep track of your favorite beers. Check back before the festival for the link to download.

Brown Bag Concert Series

Grab your lunch from a Downtown Charleston restaurant and make your way to Davis Park for free live music the third Wednesday of the month May - September 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Brown Bag specials will be offered at participating downtown Charleston restaurants on the day of the concerts. Presented by the Charleston Area Alliance and sponsored by American Medical Facilities Management (AMFM), the free event gives people the opportunity to get away from their desk, enjoy some live music and connect with others in the community.

Arts & Crafts Mound Festival

The Annual Mound Festival will be held on Saturday, September 9th from 9AM to 5PM, in South Charleston Around the Mound on "D" Street. The Festival will have a wide assortment of West Virginia-made craft items, and there will be a few new attractions to the popular South Charleston event. The Festival usually have more than 100 vendors from across the state selling crafts and food. The Mound Festival is devoted to West Virginia arts and crafts. All vendors must be hand-crafted only -- no kits -- all hand-crafted. It's only open to West Virginia crafters. Examples include wood crafts, candles, jewelry, soaps, wreaths, swags and seasonal items for Christmas, Halloween, and Thanksgiving.

13th Annual FOP/FOPA Open Car and Vintage Bike Show

The 13th Annual car and bike show is open to all makes and models. Free dash plaques, 50/50 drawing, $15 entry fee, over 50 awards, food and drinks, vendor spaces, blood pressure clinic, and door prizes. Breakfast at 7 a.m. Awards start at 2 p.m. Join the WV Blue Knights with the FOP Car and Bike Show Motorcycle Ride and Picnic on June 4. Guyandotte Civil War Days

Guyandotte Civil War Days focuses its programs on this historic event in an effort to celebrate and promote the rich heritage of the area. The re-enactment of the Confederate raid on Saturday is the highlight of this event. The re-enactment is a true re-enactment based on known historical facts concerning the November 10,1861, skirmish.    The re-enactment of the Union Troops recapturing the town on Sunday will demonstrate the actual events of November 11, 1861. Re-enactments of known historic events and living history scenarios will be presented over the weekend. Be sure to check out the display cases at the Guyandotte Library for a display of Civil War facts and photographs.   During both days there will be many other scenarios of life during the war years, including exhibitions by military field surgeons. There will be a pavilion where you can meet local area authors. There will be multiple "Sutlers" when you can buy period clothing, merchandise and souvenirs.
