On Saturday, September 21, 2024, the Kanawha State Forest Foundation is holding its annual Margaret Denison Fall Nature Walks. Walkers should meet at the Nature Center and registration will begin at 8:30 am with the walks starting at 9:00 am. Walks are led by experts in their fields and include: Wildflowers, Mushrooms, Birds, Medicinal Plants, and more. There will even be a “mobility-limited” wildflower walk.
Attendees should bring cameras and binoculars. The participation fee is $7 adults and $2 for walkers ages 12 to 18; children under 12 are free. The walks will be assisted by staff from the State Parks Section of the Division of Natural Resources, the Kanawha Valley Master Naturalists, the Handlan Chapter of the Brooks Bird Club, the Mary Ingles Trail Blazers and the West Virginia Native Plant Society.
