Ginny Hawker & Kay Justice Concert

Join us for an evening of folk music with Ginny Hawker & Kay Justice on November 15th! Doors are at 6:30pm. Tickets are $10 if purchased online in advance or $15 at the door.

Ginny Hawker and Kay Justice bring their Appalachian heritage and love of the music that has surrounded them all their lives to the table when they invite you to an evening of song. These are not just any songs–they are a culture wrapped in a song.

After meeting more than 30 years ago at the Augusta heritage Workshops in Elkins, WV, Ginny and Kay embarked on a whirlwind of places across the US where people were hungry for their close harmonies and soul-stirring ballads. During this time they made 4 recordings on the Appalshop label and taught at several music camps. They stopped traveling together for about 20 years while Kay finished her work as a nurse anesthetist and Ginny began singing with her husband, Tracy Schwarz.

However, their respect for each others talent and requests for their unique sound never diminished. Their impact upon the traditional southern music scene is evident still. Their concert tonight promises many Carter Family songs, unaccompanied ballads, and soulful gospel songs that invite you to join in. Ginny and Kay paint true-life pictures of their pride in their Appalachian heritage and the sheer joy of singing.
