With inspiration from our Live Leaf Map, head to this week’s featured Almost Heaven spots and catch a glimpse of jaw-dropping fall views for yourself. 🍁

Wardensville 🎃

Wardensville is more than just a small town in the Potomac Highlands. This mountain town is filled with craft vendors, artisan gifts, food, games, a parade and more. Start your day with a warm drink and tasty breakfast at Lost River Trading Post. Browse pumpkins, local goodies and fresh produce at Wardensville Garden Market.

Plan a trip here this weekend and check out the annual Fall Festival from Oct. 10-12, the perfect way to celebrate the peak of fall in West Virginia. Get a taste of American cuisine with seasonal, farm-picked and organic ingredients at Mack’s Bingo Kitchen.

Lost River State Park 🌄

Between the peaceful serenity and stunning views at Lost River State Park, you’ll be lost in the moment. Nestled in the wooded mountains of the Potomac Highlands, this Hardy County gem has over 3,900 wooded acres for nature lovers to roam.

Lost River is known for its Cranny Crow Overlook on top of Big Ridge Mountain, commanding jaw-dropping views of five counties. Get your photo taken on the Almost Heaven Swing! The state park also features several hiking trails and 26 cabins to extend your stay.

Explorer Tip: Before driving off to our next featured destination, make a detour to the quaint town of Petersburg and try a seasonal coffee and fresh-baked treat from the Grove Cafe & Bakery! ☕️🥐

NROCKS 🧗🏼

Home to the longest Via Ferrata on the East Coast, a guided adventure with NROCKS in Circleville is an out-of-this-world bucket list adventure. Seriously, you have to be here to believe it!

Ascend the majestic mountains of West Virginia when climbing metal rungs and crossing wooden bridges. Be immersed in panoramic views of Almost Heaven’s natural beauty while crossing unique rock formations more than 200 feet above the forest below.

Green Bank Observatory 🔭

Leave your phone in the car as you won’t need it here! The Green Bank Observatory is in a National Radio Quiet Zone with no chance of distracting you from the moment. Enjoy the fall views while learning about the observatory’s contributions to astronomy. You can even take a tour of the campus and get a close view of the 8,500-ton Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope, the largest fully steerable radio telescope in the world. After observing the fall leaves and telescope, browse the Science Center and the hands-on Exhibit Hall to complete your fall foliage mission.
