Snowshoe Mountain has some of the best skiing in the entire mid-Atlantic region— but there is way more to do than just ski or snowboard.
From kids’ activities to spa relaxation to après-ski revelry, Snowshoe has it all. You could tuck away in this little town for the whole season.
Here are a few things that will keep you coming back to this wild, wonderful mountaintop resort:
1. Yoga
Yoga is great for active folks like skiers, because it develops your flexibility, muscle tone, balance and calm. Snowshoe’s yoga classes focus on restorative properties and alignment— in other words, they can be great for recovery after you’ve pushed your muscles skiing. Combined with the cool mountain air, these classes will have you relaxed and ready for another day on the slopes!
2. Food
Snowshoe has about every type of dining experience you could hope for, from basic to gourmet.
For excellent steaks and seafoods with occasional live music, the Foxfire Grille is the place to go. For beer, burgers and wings, take your friends and hit up Misty’s Sports Bar; you might even wind up belting out some karaoke!
Get more upscale: The Alpine Ristorante features fine Tuscan cuisine in a mid-mountain setting. Or, if you just want to keep it simple with a pizza, there’s even the Cheat Mountain Pizza Company.
3. Spa
Go completely decadent and treat yourself to a session at Snowshoe’s spa. Hot stone massage, nail treatments, facials and more– when you’re done at the spa, nobody will ever know you’re on a ski vacation.
4. Snowmobiling
Snowmobile tours take you through the backcountry of Snowshoe’s entire basin. You’ll get a perspective of Snowshoe that few others ever see, and you can even book a trip out to the remote backcountry hut for a meal.
5. SO much for the kids
Most ski resorts have tubing parks and ski school for the young folks, and Snowshoe does too. But there’s much, much more.
Split Rock Pools is an extensive water park where you can soak, slide and even swim from indoors to outdoors. The heated pools are open year round, so you can splash in the snow!
Then there’s the Big Top, a huge funhouse for kids that includes a climbing wall, inflatables and Eurobungy (where you can jump up and down on trampolines attached to elastic cords). If the kids are still amped up after skiing all day, they’ll definitely get worn out in the Big Top.
