Pawpaw Festival 🍈
Sept. 13, 2025 | Paw Paw, WV
Come to Paw Paw to celebrate West Virginia’s native fruit, the pawpaw. If you’ve never tried a pawpaw, imagine a creamy mix of mango, pineapple and banana with a hint of vanilla. You can taste it while enjoying live music, having fun with your family, and pawpaw. Special guests and pawpaw tree experts will share their expertise and knowledge about the fruit. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so don’t miss out on this sweet event!
Mothman Festival 👻
Sept. 20-21 | Point Pleasant, WV
There are no reported sightings on an event like this anywhere else! Head to Point Pleasant in Mason County for the cryptic Mothman Festival. Held on every third weekend of September, the Mothman Festival commemorates the 1966 Mothman sighting in town, which introduced the infamous red-eyed winged legend to the world. Crypid enthusiasts and newbies alike from across the globe gather downtown near the Mothman Museum to celebrate their favorite mysterious legend. Enjoy live entertainment, food vendors, merchandise for purchase, guest speakers and so much more.
Preston County Buckwheat Festival 🥞
Sept. 25-28, 2025 | Kingwood, WV
The Preston County Buckwheat Festival in Kingwood is one of West Virginia’s oldest festivals. The festival began in 1938 as a homecoming event organized by the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department and local civic groups, marking the autumn harvest. Its success led to the invitation of Preston County buckwheat cake experts to the New York World’s Fair the following year. The festival features live music, carnival rides, parades, arts and crafts, and buckwheat pancakes and sausage. Come hungry and enjoy the buckwheat!
WV Country Roads Festival 🌿
Sept. 19-21, 2025 | New Martinsville, WV
Are you trying to squeeze in some more summer memories before fall arrives? The WV Country Roads Festival is a late summer festival held in New Martinsville, located in the heart of Wetzel County. The Festival strives to create a memorable, family-friendly opportunity to enjoy the last days of summer. Dive into the local agriculture and history by enjoying live music, local vendors, a demolition derby and guinea pig races.
Autumn Harvest Festival and Roadkill Cook-off 🥘
Sept. 27, 2025 | Marlinton, WV
Get a taste of the wild side of Pocahontas County at the Autumn Harvest Festival and WV RoadKill Cook-off! This event blends authentic Appalachian tradition with culinary creativity, featuring savory dishes made by local, returning and newly entered contestant teams surrounded by live music, arts and crafts, and a Roadkill square dance. From venison stew to squirrel chili, it’s a celebration that introduces you to regional flavors and resourcefulness. Try new flavors and explore a large craft show with over 100 vendors.
Mountain State Forest Festival 🌲
Sept. 27-Oct. 5, 2025 | Elkins, WV
The Mountain State Forest Festival is one of the largest and oldest festivals in West Virginia. It continues to promote the beauty and splendor of our mountains and valleys in all their autumn glory and prudent development, conservation and culture of our abundant natural resources for the future. Stick around for the headline concerts, music shows, lumberjack competition, forestry and wood exhibits, juried art show, photography, quilt show, arts and crafts, amusement rides and parades.
