Department of Tourism shares fifth fall foliage update of 2026
Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Tourism has issued its fifth official 2026 foliage report and updated statewide map.
Fall color is popping up all over the state of West Virginia just in time for the Halloween weekend. This week’s top destinations and activities to see fall foliage include the West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, Shepherdstown Ghost Tour, Flatwoods Monster Museum, Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum and Coopers Rock State Forest.
Pair foliage viewing with unique local attractions and stops on the The West Virginia Paranormal Trail for the perfect close to October. The Fall SWINGO Challenge also continues until December 31, 2026, so be sure to check in at ‘Almost Heaven’ swings across the state to earn exclusive West Virginia prizes.
Travelers and locals are invited to join the conversation by using #AlmostHeaven and tagging @wvtourism on social media with photos to help create the state’s weekly fall foliage updates.
