Charleston, WV – Cooler temperatures have settled into the mountains of West Virginia, sparking bright colors throughout the state’s lower elevations. Despite a slower start to the season, colors are quickly coming alive and growing more beautiful with each day.
“It’s finally starting to feel like fall here in Almost Heaven,” said West Virginia Department of Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby. “I’m amazed every morning as the leaves continue to bring more color and beauty to our beloved mountains. We’ve still got a few weeks of spectacular foliage ahead, so be sure to plan your trip to West Virginia to see the jaw-dropping beauty for yourself!
“We are starting to see some really good color,” said West Virginia Division of Forestry Director Jeremy Jones. “Folks planning to travel towards Morgantown for West Virginia University’s homecoming game this weekend can expect to see near peak conditions along their route. The mix of vibrant hues and rolling valleys make for a picturesque autumn scene.”
