This field trip is about the “folk culture” of the state giving your students a guided tour of the Cryptid tales of West Virginia. Come to Morgantown and let your guide take you through the evidence and the stories of the legendary monsters of the mountain state. This trip is suitable for all ages and accessibility’s and will give students a chance to learn about the many legends of their state.

Welcome to Cryptid Mountain Miniature Golf in Morgantown, WV—an experience far beyond the putting green. While the facility is an indoor, 13-hole mini-golf course featuring spectacular blacklight and audio effects, your students will be treated to a captivating, lecture-style presentation built around the course’s theme: the fascinating cryptids and ghost stories of West Virginia.

Located at 950 Parkway Drive, Morgantown, WV, Cryptid Mountain Miniature Golf is a family-friendly venue that is fully wheelchair accessible. We offer a truly unique, immersive, and educational outing.

Your trip to Cryptid Mountain is just the beginning! We’ll highlight other exciting destinations of interest in the region, including the Flatwoods Monster, Bigfoot, and Mothman museums, encouraging students to continue their exploration of West Virginia’s legendary landscape.

What Your Students Will Experience

Age Groups and Other Requirements
Most appropriate are middle – high school. No specific requirements, other than comfortable clothes. Our course and building are fully ADA compliant.

Pricing and Group Sizes
The space of the private room can comfortably accommodate 30-35 people at one time. Private Event $125.00 – discounted rate of $8 per person playing golf.


Educational Benefits

Information focuses on the WV Dept of Education’s College and Career Readiness Standards (Policy 2520). Specifically, Sociology SS.S.9 that includes “folk culture”. Also Geography, SS.US.13, how people express attachment to places and regions through the “Telltale Lilac Bush” by Ruthann Musick and it’s impact on WV culture. I also include WVDE Music and Visual Art standards through the bluegrass music played in the course, and the background wall wraps throughout the course.
