World War II Weekend - September 7, 2024

Join us on September 7-8 to experience the sights, sounds, and stories of the Second World War and honor all local veterans. This year’s event will take place at John Marshall High School in Glen Dale, WV.

There will be so much to see and do. Check out the World War II camp to learn from re-enactors what a soldiers’ experience might have been like and see some awesome World War II vehicles up close. Then visit with Cat Gardiner and learn about what people on the homefront did to support the war effort. Step into her recreated 1940s house to find out the many ways that women and children rationed, collected vital materials, and worked together to make sure our soldiers had what they needed to win the war.

Walk through numerous displays and learn about different aspects of the war and the organizations that are helping keep the stories of our veterans alive.

Sit and listen to fantastic speakers. Learn about the USS Indianapolis, WWII tanks, WV native Colonel Ruby Bradley, Jackie Cochran, and so much more.

There will be activities for kids including a scavenger hunt and a Bootcamp Obstacle Course. Can you beat the fastest time? Food trucks will be also be on site.

Saturday evening from 7-10 pm, join us at St. Jude Hall to dance the night away at our 1940s Swing Dance with music provided by Matt Hill and Friends. Everyone is welcome and tickets are only $8 at the door. Concessions, beer, and wine will be available for purchase.
