Mountain Medicine Weekend - July 12, 2025

From forest-farmed botanicals to mushrooms to field-grown herbs, learn about a diversity of traditions surrounding the biodiversity of our Appalachian region, where plants have been used for generations for food and medicine.

This weekend features interactive workshops, guided walks, presentations, great food, and live music, offering excellent learning opportunities in a fun and friendly community.

Part of the WV Department of Agriculture Farm Crawl.

Sessions:

Ruby Daniels – Afrolachian Traditions in Mountain Medicine – Ruby shares stories about her and her ancestors’ experiences with Appalachian plants for healing and survival.

Jon Lamastra – Medicinal Mushrooms – Learn about the products that can be made from mushrooms and their uses.

Susan Leopold with United Plant Savers – The Lost History of Eclectic Schools of Medicine and Early American Mountain Doctors – Free and Open to All

Mountain Medicine Trail Guided Tour – Stroll through the botanical sanctuary with the presenters and explore the lives and the lore of the wild things.
