How to make a childhood favorite even better

Remember snow days as a child? Searching for the perfect hill with your sled in hand, trudging your way to the top, the feel of the wind in your face as you go whooshing down?

Well, those days don’t have to be over.

Relive the rush at these West Virginia tubing parks (with a nice upgrade— no more hiking back up). They’ll make you feel like a kid again.

1. Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center

At 1,200 feet, Canaan Valley’s Tubing Park boasts the longest lanes in the Mid-Atlantic, and to make sure you get the most rides in during your 2-hour session, hop on their magic carpet to be pulled right back up to the top for another round!

You can slide during the day or evening hours, as long as you are 4 and up and at least 42 inches tall. Don’t forget to make a pitstop at the warming hut to refuel!

2. Snowshoe Mountain Resort

Polar bears and penguins? At the Coca-Cola Tube Park at Snowshoe Mountain Resort, you may catch a glimpse of the brand’s mascots. Tubers can enjoy runs down a 6-story, 8-lane tubing hill (complete with rope lift).

It’s even open after dark! Riders have to be at least 4 years old and 36 inches tall.

3. Winterplace Ski Resort

With more than a dozen lanes, Winterplace Ski Resort’s tubing park has been crowned the largest in the state. The tracks, designed with walls and curves, are known as whoop-de-doos, and the 2 super carpet lifts makes everything easier.

Kids shorter than 44 inches can head to the kiddie park for pint-sized fun. The nearby Mountain House has a food court, ski shop and viewing deck to relax after your sliding spree.

Of course, if you want to slip around on an old-fashioned sled, there’s no better place than the Mountain State. If you don’t have your own, Blackwater Falls and Pipestem Resort State Park both have rentals.

Which West Virginia wonderland will you go tubing through?
