Wild, Wonderful West Virginia encourages early vacation planning

Celebrates National Plan for Vacation Day with seasonal package giveaway

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Jan. 30, 2017) – Wild, Wonderful West Virginia is celebrating National Plan for Vacation Day Tuesday by launching a giveaway of four vacation packages.

Across the nation, workers leave millions of vacation days on the table at the end of each year. The Division of Tourism is partnering with Project: Time Off, an initiative geared toward ensuring travelers plan their vacation days for the entire year at the start of the year.

“As your new Tourism Commissioner, I encourage both residents and visitors alike to make sure to take advantage of their vacation days by planning early,” said Commissioner of Tourism Chelsea Ruby. “West Virginia is a true four-season vacation destination, and we want to ensure all travelers book their stays in advance and have the opportunity to explore all things wild and wonderful about West Virginia in the coming year.”

In celebration of National Plan for Vacation Day, Wild, Wonderful West Virginia will give away four vacation packages from industry partners on Feb. 28. Enter to win at www.wvtourism.com/timeoff.

  • Whitewater rafting adventure for four with breakfast, ziplining and three nights in a luxury cabin from River Expeditions;
  • Golf package for four including lodging from Oglebay Resort;
  • Ski package for two featuring lift tickets, equipment rental and 90-minute group lesson from Winterplace;
