The Wild & Woolly Festival: Music & Mountain Traditions on the Gauley

July 24, 2015 - July 25, 2015

A weekend of great music, primitive camping with food provided, workshops in mountain traditions, Farm Strong contests and games with great prizes, and much more!

Camping:  Primitive camping (tents preferred, but small campers* permitted) on a peaceful, private and beautiful mountain farm, just ¼ mile from Mason Branch and the Perfect Wave on the wild and scenic Gauley River.

Music:  Some of the BEST local bluegrass and folk music you’ve ever heard both Friday and Saturday nights!  The Allegheny Ramblers, Barefoot Hillbillies, One 4 The Road, & T. Paige Dalporto will be jamming and filling the mountain air with traditional Appalachian music.

Mountain Traditions: Learn mountain traditions and skills in one of our workshops.  Become skilled in how to forage for and identify mushrooms, herbs and other edible plants.  Go bird watching and find out what birds live in our area.  Go creek wading and discover the aquatic life that live in our streams.  Gain knowledge about traditional Appalachian music, go biking, hiking and exploring, and more!

Gauley Adventure: Explore everything the Gauley River National Recreation Area has to offer!  Standup paddleboarding (SUP) at the Perfect Wave.  Swim, kayak and fish at Mason Branch.  Have a picnic at Sweets Falls.  Climb the breathtaking Janie’s Hole waterfall.  Bring your mountain bike and test your skills.

Fun & Games: Every camper gets free entry into the Farm Strong contest and games with great prizes to be given out!  Farm Strong Contest includes the Hay Hoist, Bucket Run, Tire Flip, Feed Bag Race, Egg Toss, Horseshoe and Corn Hole Tournaments! What’s to lose?  You could win a great prize!

Food:  Freshly grilled favorites served each day.  Each camper receives breakfast Saturday, dinner Friday and Saturday and brunch on Sunday. Lunch Friday and Saturday on your own or grilled concessions.
