Mountain Rail Polar Express Train

The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad is proud to announce its partnership with Rail Events Inc. (through Warner Brothers Consumer Products, Inc.) to bring the officially licensed train ride event to Elkins, West Virginia the holiday season! THE POLAR EXPRESS™ train rides are based on the holiday feature film from Warner Bros. and the beloved children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, about a doubting young boy who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve.

Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, pajama clad passengers relive the magic of the story as this nighttime train whisks families away for an unforgettable ride to the North Pole. During the journey, the Conductor will punch tickets and dancing Chefs serve hot chocolate, followed by a reading of Van Allsburg’s classic. At the North Pole, Santa will board the train and greet the children and offer a gift for those who truly believe – a silver sleigh bell.

The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad joins over thirty other officially licensed THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride events nationwide this holiday season. THE POLAR EXPRESS™ 2019 holiday schedule consists of train departures in November and December leading up to Christmas from the downtown Railroad Depot in Elkins, West Virginia.

All passengers will receive their own souvenir golden ticket, cocoa mug, and bell! (Be sure to make your reservations early as these trains are expected to sell out quickly.)

Add Railyard Restaurant Traditional Holiday Buffet—Enjoy a family meal in combination with your ride to the North Pole at the adjacent Railyard Restaurant. Meals are served at 4:30 PM for 7:15 PM departures and at 6:45 PM for 5 PM departures. Reservations are highly recommended for both venues and you’re encouraged to book early as these events are expected to sell out quickly.
