Born & Bred Series ~ Wonderful Women of West Virginia

April 15, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Saturday, April 15, 2023
7:00 PM
Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center Clarksburg, WV
APRIL 15 The 2023 season Born & Bred Concert Series is the first to include radio personality, and musician, “Appalachian Soul Man”, Aristotle Jones as the host! Jones is also the curator of the concert series and with his involvement the Born & Bred concerts have elevated into a variety show (Mountain stage-esque) type of production, with a similar tone to the radio show Jones hosts, “Sounds Good to Me with Aristotle Jones”, and will include brief prerecorded interview segments as well as local celebrity appearances.
Musical acts will have the opportunity to perform with Aristotle’s Band “Amazing Appalachian Soul Band” as backing support if desired, and they will be our House Band.

Headlining our show will be Hello June. Hello June first came onto the scene in 2017 with their EP Spruce. “Dance” was featured by NPR Music’s heavy rotation and was played on the radio stations across the US.

Currently the band is recording their second album in Nashville TN with Roger Alan Nichols (Belltone Recording) with a single being released in 2023.

The Feature Artist is Annie Neeley. For over a decade, Neeley and her bass player husband, Dave Kirkpatrick, have been writing songs on the folkier side of country. Her 2010 debut, Cold Heart Blues, features that type of songwriting that can coax tears from a stone. In 2016, she released a collaborative album with fellow writer Andrew Adkins called Appalachia. The two managed to mix traditional bluegrass instruments with an outlaw sound, particularly on songs like “When I Was Young”, or “Bound for Somewhere.”

Our Opening act is Grace Campbell, a singer/songwriter from Princeton, WV with a charm all her own. She is a bright light in the Grassroots District of Mercer County, WV, but she wants to grow to be a shining light even further.

Now living in Morgantown, Grace is utilizing her talents through hard work. Her song “Who’d You Fall in Love with Now?” is out on Spotify, and there is an album in the works.

Our Local Celebrity Hidden Talent is none other than Lauren Winans! Lauren is not only the host of WBOY’s 304Today, but Lauren Winans is also a triple threat in the WV Entertainment Industry. She is a master of her craft in front of the camera covering the regional music scene by interviewing local performers, but she herself spent several years performing and songwriting in Nashville, TN, before returning home to West Virginia to pursue her career in television and raise her family.
