The West Virginia Herb Association is holding its 31st Annual Fall Conference “Our Herbal Roots” on September 23rd at Jackson’s Mill, WV. The conference is open to the public to learn about native plants and medicinal herbs from 14 knowledgeable speakers including: herbalists, WVU professors, herb/plant farmers, authors, and naturalists all who encourage the use of West Virginia farm and forest grown medicinal plants and herbs. Keynote Speaker is David Hawkins, who is a Master Herbalist and Certified Nutritional Consultant and owner of Mother Earth Foods, and has been a practicing herbalist for over 40 years.
Our Herbal Roots is the theme of the conference. WVHA President Eve Von Deck shares “Herbs bring us joy in many ways – fond memories of a fragrant kitchen or garden, relief from many of the ills that we suffer, and a pleasant reminder that we are all connected to the earth through Mother Nature.” Speakers will discuss various topics related to growing, collecting, pollinators, herbal medicine, and plant identification with two Make & Take classes as well as a cooking competition and raffle.
